In Ashtanga yoga, practitioners move through a set sequence of postures, starting with sun salutations and moving on to standing poses, seated poses, backbends, and inversions. The emphasis is on the flow of movement and the breath, with the intention of creating heat in the body and purifying the mind and body.
Ashtanga is characterized by its use of vinyasa, or the linking of movement and breath, as well as its emphasis on performing a set series of postures in a specific order. Ashtanga yoga is also known for its physically demanding practice, which includes the use of breath control, concentration, and alignment in each posture, designed to systematically open and strengthen the body, as well as purify and calm the mind.

Yin yoga is a slow-paced practice that emphasises holding passive stretches for extended periods of time. It is designed to gently stretch and open the connective tissues in the body, particularly in the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.
The practice is often done on the floor, using props such as blankets, blocks, and straps to support the body in the stretches and allow for a deeper release.
The goal of yin yoga is to increase flexibility and relaxation in the body and mind, and to improve the flow of energy in the body's meridian system. It is a calming and restorative practice that can be a complement to more active or dynamic styles of yoga.
It is a way of thinking, feeling, acting, doing & being.

Yoga enables me to live in my own light.
Connect with who I am,
& not what others perceive or want me to be.

The last couple of years have been weighted in one way or another for us all.
There is no set "my problems are bigger than yours". We all bleed red. We all feel. We all have needs.
Pain & trauma have greeted us, unexpectedly, and forced us to move through new notions of life.
Perhaps this could be argued that is life in itself? But it certainly seems as though the world is expected to embrace this new "norm" which seemingly has been built on blocks of separation.
Distance from one another.
When pain & trauma goes unresolved, it traps itself in the body, tucking away inside of the cells of our very physical beings.
This can go on to manifest and present itself in many different health ailments that bring about further suffering. Suffering which is unnecessary and arguably, preventable.
We humans don't just crave intimacy, we need it.
It helps to feel safe and loved in this world. It helps us to feel contentment.
Love, connection & togetherness are part of our basic fundamental needs.
We must work to release our trapped emotions, to rid the body of pain & trauma.
You know that twinge you get in your knee? Or the sharp stab that hits you behind the shoulder blade? or how about the dull ache that never fades from the bottom of your back?
As we age, our bodies have become so used to storing pain & trauma as a coping mechanism.
Within moving through the notions of life, or living through fight or flight responses, often we block out the warning signs from our bodies, the little niggles or weak spots, until our bodies are shouting at us, screaming out in pain and forcing us to pay attention.
This is unresolved trapped pain & trauma.
We all have it. We can either do something about it or we can deny it.
All of my Yoga Sessions are specifically designed to do something about. Even things you have long forgotten about but your body has neatly crammed the distant memory away into the nucleus of a cell.
